Board games are sports for everyone!The Balalaroom project received a grant of $ 20,000 from the "Saby" Charitable Foundation for the production of children’s sports board games.
"When we started our project, I thought about my own children first of all," the project manager Sergey Teifel said. "However, while working and communicating with the Russian Federation of Sports Board Games, we understood that these games are of great importance for the rehabilitation of disabled people. After visiting one of the boarding schools for children in Almaty, we realized the high demand for them in Kazakhstan. And we decided to move in this direction as well."
At the first stage, the Balalaroom project participants made 12 special sports board games having no analogues in Kazakhstan with their own hands. They were based on games from Canada, America, Holland, France, India and many other countries. Each of them is a separate sports discipline with clear and fascinating rules. Playing these games, children not only have fun, but also improve their health, find new friends and get unforgettable impressions of the victories.
"The goal of our work is to provide active and useful leisure for the whole family," the "Saby" Foundation co-founder Kenes Rakishev says. "I am a father myself, and same as many parents I am concerned about too much time spent by our children with their smartphones, the lack of communication and lack of benefit for health.
The Balalaroom creates a game space for children and their parents, to which they can come at any convenient time and teach something new to the children in the form of a game. I hope that our support will help the project to expand the production and range of the board games and open a game club for family leisure in the future."
For the recent six months, the Balalaroom games were played by more than 1,000 children. None of them even looked into the smartphone while playing.
